Forty-four Daily Pictures

OK, so i got as far as 44 “daily pictures” and 44 “Daily Kelvins”. Most pictures were really shot, edited and posted during each day, but in the end i ran into two problems: Kelvin, while he is a really cute dog and really poses well, does look pretty much the same after 44 pictures. I either need to up my game significantly, give up, or accept that my dog looks the same on most of the pictures.

Deploying Nudge - Customised!

Nudge is a piece of software which encourages the user to please update their outdated macOS. I suggest you read (lots) more about it on the Nudge wiki and elsewhere on the interwebs if you aren’t as familiar with it as you would like. Suffice to say, Nudge should be configured to suit your organisation and part of this configuration changes with each released version of macOS. As goes with any Admin tool, Nudge should be configured as kindly and thoughtfully as possible.

Lights, Camera, Action!

Alright, so i’ve challenged myself to take, edit and publish two pictures a day, one “regular” of whatever happens around me, and one “doggo” with our lapphund Kelvin. Here’s the thing. It’s really hard to think of a new thing to photograph each day, at least for me. Since i work Monday to Friday and have theatre on Saturday, and it’s winter time, most of my waking hours are dark! And once i’ve managed to photograph something, it’s really hard to remove all those pictures that aren’t bad but didn’t pass the publish threshold – the pictures that are good enough but didn’t make the cut.

Shoot Into the Light

After years of waiting, i finally got myself a camera. It’s been such a long time since i had one. Now i need to start seeing with “my camera eye” again. To train my camera eye, i’ve challenged myself to take, edit and publish one picture each day. I don’t know how long i’ll last, but i’ll try. There are several reasons for this. Consistency is one. If i do something each day, i hope to improve, and i hope to get some routine doing it.

I Found a Bug

I found a bug. I investigated it and reported it. I created a fix. And now it’s gone. These things are everyday for the coder but not for me the sysadmin, who did get a little bit of a kick out of this.

My First Malware Analysis

A colleague1 pinged to tell me he clicked a button in an email which he realised was not legit and that he may have done a bad thing. First of all, thank you for informing us security peeps and not hiding! This is how we all can be more secure. In my turn, i shall do my best to stay approachable and i’m grateful for anyone who steps forward in a security incident like this.
